Isla San Marcos, approx. 10 miles southeast of Santa Rosalía, is best known for its gypsum production. Large amounts are mined on the southern end of the island and exported all over the world. We anchored at the north end of the island, facing the island, as there are some small coves with beautiful rock formations.
In between the Caleta de los Arcos and the Sweet Sea Cove there are various anchoring spots. However, every anchor spot should be inspected extensively, because there are a lot of dangerous reefs under the water surface as well as some rocks above the water surface (Punta Islote, Punta Piedra Blanca).
The coral reefs I explored here were the most beautiful ones I've seen so far in my life due to its precipitous cliffs.
