San Martín Island lies approx. 250 kilometers north of the Benito Islands and was our last stop before approaching our final destination San Diego. Our arrival was early in the morning and we anchored in the thickest fog. Isla San Martín is an inhabited island with a few rudimentary houses and tents. The few locals were extremely friendly towards us and some kids were happy about a handful of candy we still had on board.
The island is completely volcanic which can not only be noticed by the black stones and the sand but also its form itself. Next to the few dozen of people there are way more sea lions which also claimed the island for themselves.
After the fog had dissipated we snorkeled as long as the cold water temperatures allowed it before we started the last part of our voyage, another 270 kilometres in northwest direction.
