Puerto Escondido in Baja California Sur, not to be confused with Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca, is one of the best naturally protected harbours in the Sea of Cortez. Only small sailing boats can enter it as the entrance channel is just 200 feet wide and has a minimum depth of 9 feet. The harbour bay offers space for hundreds of boats the surrounding hills invite you to hike and there is a pizza restaurant to recharge your batteries. The little village of Puerto Escondido lies a few miles north, on the other side of the bay, where anchoring is also possible, but less protected from the wind. this port is so natural that there grow mangroves in it and you can also spot marine wildlife like turtles swimming around.
