Tembabiche is another small village 20 miles north of Nopolo. Its main attraction is La Casa Grande (The Large House), which was built in the 1920 after a local fisherman had found a extremely large pearl of at least five carat. After selling this pearl in La Paz the fisherman built the Casa Grande and bought a fleet of fishing boats. The heirs couldn't decide what to do with this house after his death so it became a victim of wind and weather and served as a treasure trove for building materials. The ruins have been preserved and can be inspected by everyone.
Recently a new school building has been built within a state initiative and was equipped with photovoltaic panels to supply the school with electricity.
Besides the little village, Tembabiche has a beach miles long in the bay of San Carlos. The mountains of the Sierra de la Giganta are a gorgious scenery to view them from the bay.
