Whereas houses act like plants, boats act like living animals. So it was not surprising that we constantly had to take care of another part of the boat. During the whole travel time we were in constant repair and improvement work. Some bullards were replaced and upgraded to larger ones, we took the main winch apart and cleaned each of the dozens of small parts. A somewhat demolished footboard was made fully functional again by long wooden dowels reinforced with epoxy resin. We also climbed the mast of the boat several times to replace anchor and running lights. Pat did a great job optimizing the generator as well as the electrical motors and I fixed the fishing rod. In addition, we had numerous other projects underway, such as the installation of fans (electrical or naturally wind driven ones).
